OK....Now I've seen it all for sure. Caffiene can apparantly be absorbed through the skin. This handy bar of soap hits you with 200 milligrams of caffeine while you are in the shower. On a more practical note, I am a cappucino lover. Because of this, I have a commerical espresso - cappucino machine in my home. I figured that if I spend about $4.00 a day for a cappucino, I would have paid for the machine in 8 months. It has been a great investment. The machine I have is a Fiorenzato, which is made in Venice, Italy. It looks cool, but the most important thing is that the espresso and cappucino drinks are far better than most coffee shops. If you like these types of coffee drinks, I highly recommend investing in a machine for the home. At first they seem to be a lot of money, but when you factor in spending money most days of the week at a coffee shop, well the machine is the cheaper way to go. Besides, it's really nice to offer friends a cappucino.

If you have a machine, try putting a small amount of Bailey's Irish Creme in the espresso before adding the frothed milk. It makes a great specialty drink for guests after dinner.

Ventura Art Walk

The Ventura Art Walk is happening tomorrow, November 3, 2007. The event will be continuing late into the evening, with after show entertainment. A schedule and directory to the artists and locations of their wares is here - Ventura Art Walk

Exhibits 1-7 pm; After Party 7-10 pm.

The featured artist is Dave Rivas. This is a photo of his "Rose".

Art Walk will cover about 10 city blocks in the cultural area of downtown Ventura. Entertainment and children events are also planned. This looks to be a pleasant day out in the community.

Crowne Plaza Aqua Bar will be hosting an after event party from 7 till 10 pm.

Tired of the High Cost for Directory Assistance 411?

This is neat! A free directory assistance number 1-800-Free-411, 1-800-373-3411. You have to listen to a fast ad for a moment. But I sure like not paying out $1.00 or more when I need to find a number and I'm not home.

*Update......I did use this service and want to let you know, for some reason when calling from a cell phone, you have to input twice that you are calling from a cell phone. It does work after the second input. The ad you have to listen to is fast and I didn't find it obnoxious. Any feedback from others would be greatly appreciated.

Another free directory service has been launched from, of all companies, Google. This service works only for business listings. Dial 1-800-Goog-411, that's 1-800-466-4411.

Notary Public and Identification Required

When requesting a notary public to notarize a document for you, it is important to understand that you must show proper identification to the notary. Within the state of California, the law is explicit in identification requirements.

Identification must be one of the following:

• Driver's License of nondriver's ID card issued by a U.S. state.
• U.S. passport (physical description not required).
• U.S. Military Identification Card that contains all required elements stated above, (The Common Access Card, CAC, is not acceptable).
• Driver's License issued in Mexico or Canada.
• Foreign passport that has been stamped by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
• Inmate ID Issued by the California Department of Corrections.

*These identification sources must have be issued within the last 5 years to be acceptable.

Unacceptable forms of Identification include:

• Matricula Consular Card
• Social Security Cards
• Temporary Driver's Licenses
• Driver's Licenses without photographs

For those without proper identification, as listed above, there is another way to "prove" identification. To do this, you would have to produce two witnesses that can swear to your identity under oath. The two witnesses must have current identification, as outlined above, and sign the notary journal.

In the past, it has been possible for the notary to state "personal knowledge" of the signer as adequate for identification. However, on January 1st of 2008, this will no longer be legal.
